Recipes and Cooking ideas



with the herbs and things that we were to grow in class we were to find 3 recipes that included the herbs that we grew, i chose to use the cayenne pepper instead of the basil because i think peppers are way better.

1. Peanut Sauce (Thai Food)

3/4 cup canned pineapple juice
1/2 cup chunky peanut butter
1/4 cup low-fat milk
1 Tbsp. EACH brown sugar and soy sauce
2 tsps. cilantro, minced OR 2 Tbsps. green onion, minced
1 1/2 tsps. garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper

instructions:

Combine all ingredients in saucepan.Cook, stirring, 3 minutes.

Makes 1 1/2 cups.

2. Wendy's Chili

2 lbs. fresh ground beef
1 qt. tomato juice
1 (29 oz.) can tomato puree
1 (15 oz.) can red beans, drained
1 medium onion (1 1/2 c.), chopped
1/2 C. celery, diced
1/4 C. green pepper, diced
1/4 C. chili powder
1 tsp. cumin (if you like real flavor, add more)
1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. each: black pepper, oregano, sugar
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper


3. Guacamole Recipe

2 avocodos
juice of lemon (a sqeeze or three)
2 tabelspoons minced onion
2 tablespoons minced cilantro
1 clove of smashed, chopped garlic
1/2 diced tomato
salt to taste
pinch of cayenne pepper
