my Ishmael

1. 1. What are Ishmael’s two general rules on how to identify people from our culture? Do you agree with Ishmael when he says that people from all over the world are part of the same culture? Why or why not?

1A. Ishmael's ways of identifying people from our culture were the Dancers, where they would dance for food or they would choose to not dance and suffer the consequences (death maybe), where on the other hand he has the thought that all humans are inherently flawed.

2Q. Ishmael disagrees with Mother Culture’s voice that says that humans are inherently flawed. After reading through page 66 of My Ishmael do agree or disagree with him? Why?

2A. I do think that humans are inherently flawed, because how this world is going, how the economy and just overall world is falling apart is about 99% our fault. Of course the other 1% is just the world slowly falling apart but the other 99 is from us treating the world like crap, But yeah there are thing we could do to prolong the world crash but there is no way that we can overall stop our human flaws. But if the world chooses to start helping out its going to be hard due to the fact that some people won't, because people that are born with these habits will continue what they were taught.

3Q. Ishmael uses a parable of Tunes and Dancers to explain his idea of Takers and Leavers. Who are these Takers and Leavers and how do they relate to American culture?

3A. takers are the ones who talk dance really seriously and devote their hardest to get the maximum of what is to be gained. but leavers take the bare minimum retirements of what they can. they will take what they need and only what they need. takers are like Americans because we chase success and we are always trying to get bigger and better than what we already have.

Freedom

1Q. What does it mean to live sustainably?
1A. To me, living sustainably means being able to conserve to the point to where i would need only about ten percent of what i use now. I mean i would be able to cut down on electricity more, "recycle", Cutting back on eating so much, and maybe take the buss instead of getting a ride from my parents.

2Q. How much freedom/independence do you have in our society as a 14-16 year old?
2A. I think I have a lot of freedom but it is restricted to the people I am with or environment I am in. Like if I'm with my parents, i wouldn't really have that much freedom which leads me to question number three.

3Q. As a 14-16 year old how can u live your life more sustainably?
3A. Continuing on, for me its all about my freedom. some things i suggested was if i were to take the buss, but that option is limited due to the fact that my mom doesn't really like me taking the buss. And also cutting back on food, but to me that's really on who buys the food, so it usually comes down on to how much freedom you have as a kid. The more mature you become the more responsibilities and options become available.

This Semester's Goals

1. How are you different now than when you started school in August?

From now and when i started school i now understand that high school is a lot and harder than i thought it was going to be at first. I learned that you have to put your 100 percent full effort into every thing you do in this school.

2. What skills do you think are the most important for succeeding in Humanities? Why?

One of the major skills I learned that was a MAJOR skill was learning to work in a group. its actually lot harder than you would think because at some point people are doing stuff you don't want them to do or something gets messed up. Its just something you gotta deal with and learn to overcome.

3. One thing I would like to improve on this semester is....I am going to do this by....

One of the things i would like to improve on is definitely putting my full effort into my own work. usually i do my work but i always skip the little things which eventually end up as a big disaster when it all adds up.

4. What are you most curious about? If you could study any topic, what would you study and why?

Honestly, i don't really know what to expect further on in this semester. Somethings i wouldn't mind learning are better reading skills. as of now im a pretty slow reader. others would be better presenting skill, for future use or even p.o.l.'s.

Presidential Stuff

OK... Honestly, i hate politics, well its not that i hate it i just don't really care about it. first off everything is just way to complicated, see here's the thing, this is what people think for the elections: winner takes all. I'm not saying politics is a bad thing but its just when one person wins everything changes, the entire topic changes and rules get turned into what the winner wants them to be.

I really dont see what so hard with just doing what the people want, OK i understand they have lots of problems and cant do everything but can you imagine if both of the people running for president were to combine? it would be like some sort of super president. they would just have to deal with the differences. They got tons of great ideas on how to help the U.S. and fix all this chaos that is going on but they are too busy in dealing with each other to concentrate on WHATS GOING ON.

The mere fact that i don't really know anything about presidential stuff, all the stuff i'm saying here is just common knowledge. if you think about it, this is all just one big problem that can be solved with a simple little friendship between McCain and Obama

Well first off, Will Smith is just flat out awesome and every one should already know that. Why is he awesome you say? His music is by far some of the greatest ^^ and his movies are as about as epic can get. Will alone is just awesome but then they made a super hero movie about him, which makes him even better.

This is my dad he is an inspiration to me because he started his own business, the fact that he has the ability to start his own business and keep it running for over 26 years, this by far sets an amazing role model for a person and for me to follow in his steps would be amazing.

Code: SLB

1. how accurate were your predictions?

In the beginning i honestly had no clue how it was going to start, i thought it was going to be lily all grown up but showing her telling a story about her life what she had done as a child.

2. Which predictions were very accurate?

one of my predictions was what the book was about, i predicted about a group of girls whos life revolved about bees, And about how lily had a really messed up life.

3. Which predictions were less accurate? what were the differences between what you predicted and what actually happened?

some of the differences were, Lily and Rosaleen actually find this female community and ont start out with them in the first place. And all of the girls did not live together from the start it all happened later on.

I grab my board to go get some gnarly carnage, I slide on my shiny shoes, surprised to see how hard it was raining outside. pushing along waiting for cars to pass, I hop heavily onto the hard wood. the night sky shines streaks straight towards the wet cement floor. Rain, slightly splashing on my shoes and face.

I push harder and harder, heaving my heavy body through the air. Riding along side cars on the opposite side of the street, I stay in a steady speed, equivalent to the car next to me. The car speeds up as I drift behind slowly stopping, as my wheels grind against the gridded cement. I pull off to the side and start to head home.
